Oliver O’Shea:
I am a final-year English student at Cambridge University – with a primary interest in theatre and performance. My second-year dissertation was on the early plays of George Bernard Shaw.
At York Theatre Royal I was the assistant director of the new play Little Angels (2011) and of Equus (2009) for their Young Actors Company; the latter of which was part of the TakeOver 09 Festival. I also sat, prior to this, on the theatre’s Board of Trustees for two years as a Youth Theatre Representative.
Whilst at university I have directed student productions of The Country by Martin Crimp, Betrayal by Harold Pinter and Frozen by Bryony Lavery. I was the associate director of the Marlowe Society’s Scrooge and Marley.
As a theatre critic, I reviewed amateur and professional productions for two student newspapers.
Once I have graduated I would like to be a professional theatre director.
